Emily Hopley - Producer | Engineer | Mix Engineer | Musician
Emily is an audio engineer, music producer, university lecturer, and musician from Brisbane/Meanjin, Australia. With over a decade of experience in the industry, the 27-year-old's showreel boasts versatility across tracks from all genres, including indie, folk, pop, punk, jazz, and R’n’B. They believe strongly in inclusivity, and are always vocal in backing equality, equity, and diversity in the music industry.
Emily’s passion for audio started at 15 with an internship at a local studio Bignote Productions, and the years since have seen them work alongside many reputable names such as Anna Laverty, Michael Stavrou, Cody McWaters, Steve Kempnich, Yanto Browning, Virginia Read, and more. Having previously worked as manager assistant to Airlock Records, and manager of Airlock Studios since 2021, Emily now works at Airlock Studios as an in-house engineer. They also lecture across JMC and SAE, teaching Audio and Music Production, and act as one-half of local doomgaze act Upsetter.
In their time at Airlock Studios, Emily has worked as an assistant and lead on a range of exciting projects, including the second season of Up In The Airlock, a live-performance based content series produced at the studio, and the Airlock Studios Immersive Program, a three-day audio-engineering workshop for a selection of womxn/GNC participants, funded by the Queensland Arts Showcase Program, with Anna Laverty, and sponsorships from Fender Australia and PreSonus Australia. They have also worked with Boss Moxi, Big Dead, Tomorrow’s Forecast, Red Hill, Mt. Nadir, Blussh, and co-produced work with their own group, Upsetter, with which Emily has garnered six-figure streams and a semi-national tour. Emily also carries a Bachelor of Popular Music, and completed a residency at Brisbane Mix Studios with mastering engineer, Matthew Gray.
